Outbound vs. Inbound

Outbound message: This is a message that is sent out from a user or system.

Example: When chatting with someone, the messages you send are considered outbound messages from your perspective. In a customer service scenario, messages sent from the support agent or automated system to the customer are considered outbound messages.

Inbound message: This is a message that is received by a user or system.

Example: The messages received are considered inbound messages from your perspective. In the customer service scenario, messages received by the support agent or system from the customer are considered inbound messages.
